NU seeks nominations for presidential search advisory committee

Faculty members, students and the public have a narrow window in which to submit nominations for the University of Nebraska presidential search committee.

Nominations for members of the advisory committee should be submitted by the end of the workday May 31 to [email protected].

Nominees may include NU alums, administrators, staffers and supporters. The advisory search committee will work with a search firm to gather input for a presidential profile and priorities the president will most likely deal with over the next few years. The committee will also help promote the vacant presidency, solicit candidates and nominate candidates for president.

NU President Hank Bounds has said he would step down later this summer. Much of the committee’s work is expected to take place over the next six or seven months. There are no restrictions on the size of the committee.

Four members of the NU Board of Regents will review nominations for the committee early next month and recommend committee membership at the regents’ June 28 meeting.

The regents also want feedback from the public and other stakeholders on the qualities and skills they hope to see in NU’s next president. That feedback should be submitted to [email protected] as well.
