North Platte woman arrested for DUI, child abuse

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – A North Platte woman was arrested after police say she was involved in a crash early Monday with her two-year-old child in the back seat.

The accident happened at 12:50 a.m. near Eugene Avenue and South Jeffers Street.

North Platte Police Department Lieutenant Rich Hoaglund said 27-year-old Consuelo Deollos was driving north on Jeffers Street when she crossed the center line and crashed head-on with a southbound vehicle. Both drivers and the two-year old were not injured.

Deollos was taken to Great Plains Health for an evaluation. She was cited for driving under the influence – second offense, failure to use a child restraint, and two counts of intentional child abuse.

Police say she also left her other child, who is under the age of five, unattended at home. The children are in DHHS custody.

Deollos is being held at the Lincoln County Detention Center. Her bond is set at $5,000.
