Masks to be optional at Norfolk Public Schools this summer

NORFOLK – Masks will be optional at Norfolk Public Schools this summer.

In a special session Tuesday, the Norfolk Public School Board of Education voted to not require masks for students or staff involved in summer school in the district.

In an email sent to district parents, Superintendent Dr. Jami Jo Thompson said that she still holds the authority to reenact mask mandates if case numbers start to rise.

As far as masks in the fall, the district’s return to school committee is expected to make their recommendations later this summer.
