A 25-year-old man who has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in February was ordered held on $2 million bail Thursday.
Ian Beals was charged Thursday with second-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
Prosecutor Tony Clowe said Beals planned to sell drugs to Troy Giles in South Omaha and took $400 from him. When Giles tried to get his money back, Beals took out a knife and stabbed him, Clowe said.
On Feb. 22, Giles was found stabbed outside a home near 41st and Spring Streets. Giles, 51, was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center, where he later died.
The stabbing occurred 10 days after Beals finished a six-year stint in prison for burglary.
On Monday, Beals was sentenced to 63 months in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.
