OGALLALA, Neb. — A Kansas man has pleaded not guilty in a July crash that killed two couples near Ogallala.
Before Friday’s hearing in Keith County District Court, Jeser Cisneros-Hernandez, 22, filed a plea in abatement, contesting procedural filings in the case. Subject to that plea, he pleaded not guilty to four counts of motor vehicle homicide, reckless driving and driving left of the center of the road. On July 1, Cisneros-Hernandez was traveling east on U.S. Highway 26 near Ogallala, heading home to Liberal, Kansas, from Sidney, Montana, where he worked.
His SUV crossed the center line and struck two motorcycles traveling west. Michal Weese, 58, and Jerolyn Weese, 59, of Council Bluffs, and Sheila Matheny, 54, and James Matheny, 61, of Bedford, died. Cisneros-Hernandez has said he had slept about an hour after his work shift before driving. [caption id="attachment_1241624" align="alignnone" width="169"] Jim and Sheila Matheny[/caption]
