An Iowa woman has been charged with five felonies after authorities alleged that she stole $3,535 worth of pull-tab lottery tickets while she worked at a convenience store.
The woman, from Madrid, Iowa, has been charged in Boone County, Iowa, with four counts of theft of a lottery ticket and one count of second-degree theft.
In September, Iowa Lottery officials conducted a routine audit of a pull-tab lottery machine at a Madrid convenience store. The audit showed that $3,535 worth of tickets were missing from the machine.
Authorities started investigating and identified the woman, a former employee, as a suspect. She told police in a November interview that she had stolen the tickets.
