Inmate arrested after fleeing corrections facility in Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. — An inmate in the Nebraska prison system is back in custody after fleeing from the Community Corrections Center – Omaha this week.

Prison officials say Anthony Gonzales was booked into the Pottawattamie County Jail after being arrested in Carter Lake, Iowa, before being taken to the Community Corrections Center.

They say Gonzales assaulted another person after being dropped off at CCC-O around midnight Tuesday in Omaha.

He then fled the Community Corrections Center facility grounds when staff members tried to intervene.

Omaha Police officers were then able to find him at a hotel near Carter Lake.

He was serving a 10-year sentence on a robbery charge out of Douglas County.
