Deuel County traffic stop results in man facing charges in multiple states

A Nebraska man is facing charges in Nebraska and Colorado after police pulled over the car he was riding in near Big Springs, Nebraska.

According to the Deuel County Sheriff’s Office, authorities arrested Charles Lile of Big Springs during a traffic stop after it was discovered he had warrants in Colorado. He was wanted for being a felon in possession of a firearm, violation of a domestic protection order, violation of bond and menacing with a firearm. 

While taking Lile into custody, police discovered he was in possession of 1.5 ounces of methamphetamine. Authorities then obtained a search warrant and searched Lile’s residence in Big Springs. During the search, police found a handgun that authorities believed was used in the incident that resulted in the Colorado charges. 

Lile faces charges of possession of meth, possession with the intent to sell, tampering with evidence and being a felon in possession of a firearm in Nebraska. 

Police say he was taken into custody without incident.
