COZAD – The Cozad Police Department is reminding residents to be cautious of what you throw in your trash cans after a rash of unauthorized banking transactions.
In a statement,Police Chief Mark Montgomery says that trashcans in Cozad are being gone through nightly and personal information was found and used to withdraw money from ATM’s.
The information found was spread to other people, who used the information to withdraw money.
Montgomery says this particular case has been cleared with five arrests being made.
Police are reminding the public to shred all sensitive paperwork before throwing it out.
