Beatrice Police elevate officer to Sergeant

BEATRICE – A Beatrice Police officer has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Derrick Hosick took an oath before the Beatrice Mayor and City Council Monday night, moving from Officer, to Sergeant in the Department.

Chief Bruce Lang says Hosick will be one of the night shift Sergeants for Beatrice Police.  “It’s a super-critical position. There’s nobody out there but them, at night…and he’s got to make a lot of decisions and do a lot of things without anybody to ask or turn to. It’s a real important position for the city and I know Derrick is going to do a great job.”

Chief Lang presented Hosick with his gold badge.

Hosick fills a position vacated when Sergeant Doug Coon retired from the police department and took a position with Nebraska State Probation.
