55-year-old man struck and killed by pickup truck while out jogging in York County

LUSHTON, Nebraska — A 55-year-old man was killed early Wednesday when he was struck by a pickup truck near here, the York County Sheriff’s Office said. Mark Kliewer, who lived outside Lushton, was jogging about 6:25 a.m. on the blacktop road outside of town when he was struck by a pickup, York County Sheriff Dale Radcliff said. “The driver of the vehicle said he just didn’t see him, it was an accident,” Radcliff said. The driver, identified as Hector Aguirre, 33, of Ohiowa, Nebraska, immediately called 911 to report the incident, the sheriff said. Kliewer was pronounced dead at the scene. Lushton, a town of about 30 people, is about 16 miles southwest of York.
