Four people were hit by gunfire Wednesday afternoon near the Lindenwood Court Apartments on the west side of Fontenelle Park.
Capt. Mark Matuza of the Omaha Police Department said the victims were found on Boyd Street about a half-block west of 48th Street.
One victim sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head and the others were in less-serious shape, according to police. The shooting was reported about 2:30 p.m.
All four shooting victims were taken to the Nebraska Medical Center — one in critical condition and three in serious condition.
Matuza said he couldn’t immediately provide further details on the victims or suspects.
A witness told a reporter that a small black car sped away from the scene after the shooting.
Police blocked off Boyd Street from 48th Street near Fontenelle Park to 49th Avenue. In January, Michael Goynes, 24, was sentenced to life in prison for firing 10 shots at a rival gang member outside the Lindenwood Court Apartments in April 2016. Instead, the shots killed Barbara Williams, 55, a grandmother who had been chatting with her neighbors outside the apartments.
