28 people were killed on Nebraska roads in May, the deadliest month in almost two years

Twenty-eight people were killed in 24 crashes on Nebraska roads in May, according to Nebraska Department of Transportation data. This makes it the deadliest month on Nebraska roads since June 2016, when 29 people died, a DOT press release noted. Thirteen of the those killed in vehicles were not wearing seat belts. Eight were killed on Interstates, 12 on other highways, eight on local roads. Twenty were killed were in rural areas. Two were pedestrians. Five were motorcyclists. Twelve were age 24 or younger. There were 13 traffic fatalities in Nebraska during May 2017.
