Ruby Mae (Schmidt) Booth passed away on August 15th, 2022, at the remarkable age of 101 in Carlyle, IL.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 27th at 2 pm at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Gary Wright officiating. Graveside services to follow at the Broken Bow Cemetery.
Ruby was born on June 25th, 1921, to Bert and Adeline (Anderson) Schmidt in Anselmo, NE, the oldest of three kids. She grew up on a farm 8 miles northwest of Anselmo. Ruby was a true cowgirl. She worked hard on the family farm and later she started cooking for area threshing crews. On April 14th, 1943, she married Charles Milton Booth of Broken Bow. They initially worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot in Hastings assembling bombs during WWII and later returned home to Broken Bow. Ruby and Charles were blessed with two children, Deanna Kay & George Milton. Ruby worked at Becton Dickinson for 15 years and retired in 1983. She stayed very active in the church community at First Christian Church. In 2016 she moved to Lincoln to be nearer to her grandchildren & great grandchildren.
Ruby loved music. She had fond memories of attending local dances with polka being one of her favorites. She also loved watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren perform live music and dance. Ruby was known for baking a marvelous sour cream chocolate cake and it was a favorite amongst family and friends. Ruby spent her time creating quilts for her family and crocheted many stocking caps for Inuit tribes in Alaska. Ruby greatly enjoyed the outdoors as fishing and gardening were her popular hobbies. Her favorite places to travel were Rocky Mtn & Yellowstone National Parks.
Those left to mourn are her children Deanna & Garry Wagoner of Gibbon, NE, George Booth & Lisa Boulware of Carlyle, IL, her grandchildren, Abby (Dave) Beatty of Lincoln, NE, Anna Marie Wagoner, Gibbon, NE, Phillip (Jenny) Wagoner, of Lincoln, NE, Elisa Booth of Omaha, NE, and Jennifer (Greg) Stoddart of Chicago, IL, and 7 great grandchildren.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, and siblings, Arlene White & Berten Schmidt.
She was loved immensely, will be sorely missed, and never forgotten.
