Funeral Services for Nancy Cunningham, age 66
February 3, 1953 - November 14, 2019

Nancy J. Cunningham, 66, of Miller, NE, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019, at her home near Miller. 

Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Kearney.  Father Paul Colling will celebrate and burial will be later as Nancy graciously decided to donate her body to science following services.  Visitation with family will be on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. followed by a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. all at the church.  Memorials are suggested to World Vision or Prince of Peace Catholic Church, care of the family. She passed away in her home after battling cancer, while surrounded by her family. Nancy Jane Jeffery was born on , the third child to LaVerne and Darlene Jeffery.  She attended Watertown school until 7th grade when she went to S-E-M public school. On December 4, 1971, she married Tom Cunningham. To that union, three children were born; Amy, Pete & Katie.  

Nancy completed her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education at Kearney State College.  She started her teaching career at Pleasanton followed by Sumner, Glenwood, Riverdale and Amherst, and 22 years at Kearney Public Schools at Bryant, Kenwood and Park.  

After her retirement in 2011, Nancy continued giving piano lessons, working part time for her son Pete and son-in-law Andrew, and volunteering with Hospice.  She was very active in her church and community. She played the piano in countless services and spent a lot of time helping organize the music programs at St. Patrick’s, St. John Capistran and the Knights of Columbus choir. 

Nancy was a terrific friend, a devoted wife, and a loving mother.  She will always be adored for her role as Nana. Through all of her relationships, Nancy and her strong faith were a living example of God’s love here among us.  Those blessed to call her Wife, Mom, Nana, Sister, Aunt Nancy or Friend will forever be better for her imprint.

Nancy is survived by her husband Tom, children Amy & Andrew Weides, Pete & Brandi Cunningham, and Katie Cunningham,  grandchildren Jeffery, Lorna, Gradie, Nick, Owen, Ann & James, her brothers and sisters Joanie and Gary Hoos, Mick and Cindy Jeffery, brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews, relatives and many, many friends.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, LaVerne and Darlene Jeffery, Pat and Agnes Cunnningham, brothers-in-law Mert Nietfeld and Harry Deeds, and infant child Sammi.
