Mary Ann Horn passed away May 3, 2021 in Brunswick, Ga.

She was born Nov. 14, 1935 to Irvin Olson and Violet Haumont Olson at her parents’ home on Boggs Table north of Weissert in Custer County, Neb., the second of six children.

Mary Ann graduated from Broken Bow High school in 1953 and after teaching training at what is now the University of Nebraska-Kearney, she taught K-8 for two years at Dry Valley School.

In 1955, she married her high school sweetheart, Gale Horn, and together they had five children.

After several year of farming together, Gale and Mary Ann began their work for TEAM Mission and served as missionaries in South America for 11 years. They attended language school in Costa Rica and then worked and lived among the Yaruro Indians in Venezuela. Mary Ann taught English at the Ocana Bible Institute in Ocana, Columbia.

Mary Ann shone as a vibrant light wherever she was and cared deeply for those around her. Whether she was quilting or sewing or simply mending something for someone or making her famous cinnamon rolls or chicken noodles, Mary Ann was always touching someone with her kindness. Her dry wit and easy manner made her so fun to talk to and to be around. But her lasting legacy is in the deep faith she nurtured in her children and grandchildren and the women who were blessed to be in one of her Bible studies and who will remember her a a precious friend.

Her memory will be treasured by her five children Mitzi Angarita (Salomon), Kevin Horn (Betsy), Debby Temmer (Steve), Priscila Russell and Lydia Cawlfield (Randy); grandchildren Janeth Angarita, Mark Angarita (Kristen) Sylvia Angarita, Philip Horn (Diana), Caroline Horn, Kailey Temmer (Conrad), Abby Russell, Truett Cawlfield, Allyssa Cawlfield (Caleb), Emma Cawlfield, Nolan Cawlfield and Boyce Cawlfield; great-grandchildren Jason and Karina Cothran, John and Noah Angarita and Henry Gough; siblings John Olson (Lois), Virginia Osborne (Terry) and Clifford Olson (Gaylean); and many nieces, nephews and friends.
