Marilyn, the 5th child of 10, was born August 29, 1935, near Winner, South Dakota, to John and Dorothy (Skolasky) Kapustka. At a very young age, her family moved to Barnum, Iowa, where she graduated from high school. On August 20, 1956, Marilyn was united in marriage to Floyd (Bud) Kallhoff.

While attending Barnum High School, Marilyn was part of the women’s basketball team, which she often talked about. She worked at Mutual of Omaha Insurance following high school. Her adult life was spent in Nebraska beginning with Elgin, then Comstock, and later Broken Bow, as she worked and raised her family. Many memories were made with Marilyn at Bud’s Bar and B&M Steakhouse in Comstock during the 70s. She was an avid Husker fan, always listening to/watching football, volleyball, baseball, or the men’s and women’s basketball games. She enjoyed being able to attend her children and grandchildren’s high school football, volleyball, baseball, softball, basketball, or tennis games. She championed their cause for more playing time and unfair calls from the referees. Not sure, but she may have been escorted out of a gymnasium at least once. Marilyn also loved to travel with her sister, Ruby, as well as her bowling team.

Survivors include her children – Greg (Patti) Kallhoff of Yutan, Ann (Brad) Griebel of Arnold, Sharon (Bob) White of Kearney, Ron (Deb) Kallhoff of Ord, and Vicky (Bill) Hart of Sargent. Grandchildren – Natalie (Lance) Wang, Fort Calhoun; Eric Kallhoff, Omaha; Lisa Kallhoff, Omaha; Jessica (Travis) Hampton, Mullen; Jami Green, Arnold; Tyler White, Kearney; Andrew (Kira) White, Elm Creek; Matthew Kallhoff, Gibbon; Megan (Randy) Fichter, Modale, Iowa; Alex (Dillon) Coleman, Sargent; Jenny Hart and Fiancé Casey Swisher, Sargent; and Emma Hart, Sargent.
