Bethene June Sinner, 91, of Brewster, Nebraska died August 19, 2021 at the Mount Carmel Nursing Home in Kearney, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 23, 2021 at the United Church of Christ Church in Brewster, Nebraska. Burial will be in the Brewster Cemetery. Pastor Lee Lloyd will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 – 7 p.m. at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the family for a later designation.
Bethene was born June 1, 1930 to Lyle and Gladys (Horner) Heitz in Burwell, Nebraska. She graduated from Burwell High School in 1949. Bethene worked various jobs until she married Leonard “John” Sinner on December 31, 1955 in Burwell. They lived at Brewster where they ranched. John retired in 1990 and they then moved to Taylor. Bethene ran the Wildcat Café for a while. John died in 1994. Bethene went to live with Theresa in 2001 and she later moved to live with Lonnie in 2018.
Bethene was a member of the Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed animals, the ranch life and was a very good cook.
Bethene is survived by three children: Lonnie Sinner of Taylor, Nebraska, Theresa Sinner of Shelton, Nebraska and Les and Mary Sinner of Sumner, Nebraska. Twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, ten great great-grandchildren and several step grandchildren.
Bethene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Valarie Sinner, a granddaughter, Nancy Richards and a great-granddaughter Kristina Myers.
