Marjorie Evelyn (Moninger) Olson, 94, of Merna, Neb. peacefully joined her loved ones in Heaven on Friday May 6, 2022 at Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow after a life well lived.
Evelyn was born February 16, 1928 in Eddyville to John E. and Luella (Fales) Moninger. Evelyn attended various schools, graduating from Merna High School in 1946.
On July 24, 1946, Evelyn united in Holy Matrimony with Loyd B. Olson, Sr. and enjoyed 55 years of marital bliss. Together, they built their family – Peggy Halliwell, Sharon (Bill) Adams and Loyd B. Jr. (Melanie and formerly Deborah Schott) Olson.
Evelyn touched many lives and was loved by many people. She was a hard-worker, care-taker and was the best wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She brought joy to all of those who she encountered.
Evelyn possessed a witty humor and had abundant strength, kindness and compassion. She was passionate about Lawrence Welk, Fox News and family history. She loved dancing, singing, cooking/baking, doll making, talking on the phone, sewing/quilting, drawing, writing, trips to the casino and spending time with her family and friends to catch up on the latest.
She is survived by eight grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. Evelyn shared many memories with her special friends Dolores and Bob Call.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Sharon; 11 brothers and sisters; one great-grandchild; and numerous great-great-grand children that she is hugging in Heaven. She was eternally grateful for the care provided by the hospice workers to both her and her husband.
A celebration of life will be held July 16 with details to be determined. Memorials may be made to Angels Care: Progressive Home Health or Merna Fire and Rescue.
