Wahoo claimed its first state high school football championship today by defeating Pierce in the Class C1 title game 38-0 at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.  It began as a battle of undefeated teams and was anticipated to be one of the best of the championship games but Wahoo dominated on both sides of the ball.  Wahoo held Pierce to just 3 first downs and less than a 100 yards of total offense.  Offensively, Wahoo’s running game could not be stopped as they generated 342 rushing yards in the game.  Wahoo was led by Trevin Luben who ran for 268 yards and accounted for five touchdowns.  Not only was it Wahoo’s first football championship it was also their first appearance in the championship game.  For Pierce, it was their 6th runner-up finish.
