State Track – Class C and B – Day One

The state track and field championships continue today at Burke Stadium.  Class C and B will be featured Friday and Saturday.  Listen for live hourly updates through the day on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com.  Area schools we will be following today include South Loup, Arcadia/Loup City, and Burwell in Class C and Broken Bow, Gothenburg, Cozad in Class B.

Jessica Stieb of Arcadia/Loup City is the state champion in the Class C girls shot put.  Stieb won the event with an effort of 44′ 7.5″ which came on her first throw of the finals.  Carter Mann of Burwell was the silver medalist in the boys discus. Mann went 162′ 11″ to place 2nd overall. Reagan Cool of South Loup was a state medalist in the Class C girls pole vault. Cool cleared 10′ to tie for fourth.
Jadeyn Bubak of South Loup qualified for the finals of the Class C girls 100 meter dash.  Bubak won her heat with a qualifying time of 12.7 seconds. Caleb Busch of Burwell qualified for the finals of the boys 100 meter dash with a qualifying time of 11.18 seconds.

Broken Bow’s Qwentin Coble competed Friday in the Class B boys long jump at the state track and field championships. Coble’s top effort was 20’3.75″ which was 12th best at the state tournament. Coble would later compete in the prelims of the boys 200 meter dash. Coble would finish with a time of 23.28. Kailyn Scott of Broken Bow competed in the girls 400 prelims on Friday. Scott posted a time of 1:03.09. The time needed to qualify for the finals was 1:00.96. Broken Bow freshman MaKinley Tobey competed in the girls 3200 meters Friday. Tobey posted a time of 12:21.73 which was 15th overall. Broken Bow’s Daine Wardyn competed in the boys 3200. Wardyn crossed the line in a time of 10:45.72 to place 19th overall.
