South Loup Wins Boys Team Title and Maxwell Wins Girls Title at South Loup Track Invite

South Loup hosted its annual track and field invitational at Arnold on Thursday. South Loup won the boys team title with 156 points and Mullen was second with 72.5 points. South Loup swept the relays winning the boys 4×100 in a time of 46.9 ; the 4×400 in a time of 3:42.5 and set a new meet record to win the 4×800 in a time of 8:37.7. Kalen Dockweiler of South Loup won the boys 800 meter run and set a new meet record in a time of 2:04.4. Others who claimed gold for the Bobcats included Cade Connell in the boys high jump (5’9″) ; Cole Gracey in the pole vault (13’6″) and Landon Furne in the 200 meter dash (24.2). Other area highlights on the boys side included Tell Spies of Mullen winning the Shot Put (51’7″) ; Justin Wiens of Mullen won the 400 meter dash (54.3) ; Jared Larchick of Arcadia/Loup City placed first in the Discus (134’7″) ; and Gage Haake of Sandhills/Thedford took gold in the 110 meter high hurdles (16.1) and the 300 meter hurdles (43.8).

Maxwell was the girls team champion with 100 points. Pleasanton and South Loup tied for 2nd with 86 points. Some of the area highlights included Hallee Mann of Burwell setting a new meet record in the girls pole vault by clearing 10’6″. Jadeyn Bubak of South Loup set a new meet record in the girls 200 meter dash with a time of 26.6. Bubak also took gold in the 100 meter dash in a time of 12.8. Emery Swan of Brady won the 800 meter run in a new meet record time of 2:27.8 and South Loup set a new meet record in the 4×100 meter relay in a time of 53.1. Jessie Sallach of South Loup won gold in the girls shot put (34’9″) and Sara Lewis of Ansley/Litchfield took home 3 golds by winning the 100 meter hurdles (16.7) ; the 300 meter hurdles (47.95) ; and the 400 meter dash (60.52).
