The South Loup Bobcats advanced to the 2nd round of the Class D1 playoffs Thursday night with a 38-0 win over Ansley/Litchfield. South Loup led 16-0 in the first half when Ansley/Litchfield had first and goal from the South Loup 5 yard line but the Bobcats defense held the Spartans out of the end zone and then marched 75 yards for a touchdown to extend the lead to 24-0 and take control of the game. South Loup’s Jace Connell ran for 2 touchdowns and connected with Leighton Bubak on a 19 yard touchdown pass and Cole Gracey ran for 2 touchdowns to help lead South Loup to victory. The Bobcats will host Dundy County Stratton in the next round. DCS edged Cambridge 30-29 to advance.
In other area D1 action, Burwell defeated Palmer 63-26. Next up for the Longhorns is Sutherland who defeated Amherst 40-34. Arcadia/Loup City advances to the next round as they held off Elm Creek 28-18. The Rebels will meet Hemingford in the next round. Hemingford defeated Arapahoe 60-14.
In Class D2, Mullen defeated Paxton 47-18. The Broncos will play Garden County in the next round. Garden County advanced with an impressive 50-8 win over Medicine Valley. The Sandhills/Thedford Knights are on to round 2 as they defeated Bertrand 48-26. The Knights will now face Overton who was 42-34 winner over Giltner. Twin Loup saw its season come to an end Thursday night as the Wolves fell to Kenesaw 62-18.
