Six Man Football – SEM vs Sandhills Valley on KBBN

It is a special edition of high school football tonight on KBBN radio as Sandhills Valley hosts SEM in 6 man action. Both teams enter tonight’s game at 2-2 on the season. Sandhills Valley has picked up wins this season over Hyannis and Eustis Farnam. SEM received a win over Elba by forfeit in week one and won a thriller over Spalding / Spalding Academy 55-53 their last time out on September 20th before entering their bye week last Friday. This is the second year for SEM in six man football. First year head coach James Beavers told KCNI/KBBN Sports that the team has had a better understanding of the six man game this year following last year’s experience.

Sandhills Valley is the sports cooperative between Stapleton and McPherson County schools.  While the two are combining in all sports this season, they have been combined the last couple of years for football.  Luke Connell is the head coach and said that the focus this week for his team has been the fundamentals and that includes blocking and tackling.

Tonight’s game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.

There are other area games on the schedule tonight.  Burwell will try to bounce back after suffering their first loss of the season to Elm Creek last week.  The Longhorns will be on the road at Amherst.  Twin Loup will go up against another top ten ranked team tonight as the Wolves go on the road to meet #5 Central Valley.  Sandhills/Thedford is right behind Central Valley in the Omaha World Herald Class D2 rankings at #6.  The Knights will look to remain undefeated as they host Maxwell today.
