Several state medals came back to the area following the NSAA State Wrestling Championships held this past week at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha. The highlight came at 195 lbs. where Seth Racicky of Ansley/Litchfield defeated Brandon Rezac of East Butler by a 4-1 decision in the championship match. Racicky ends his senior season with the gold and a 35-6 record for the year. Thomas Hughes of Burwell was the Class D champion at 285 lbs. Hughes won by fall over Cade Payne of Hemingford and concluded his senior year with a 43-2 record. Andy Rojas of Lexington won the Class B championship at 120 lbs. with a 4-1 decision over Evan Steggs of Alliance. Broken Bow had two wrestlers make the finals of their weight class and finish in the runner-up position. Spencer Gaffney was 2nd at 120 lbs. and Trey Brooks was 2nd at 220 lbs. in Class C. Other area wrestlers who made the championship match of their weight class and brought home the silver medal were : Colby Coons of Twin Loup at 145 lbs. in Class D ; Body Jensen of Burwell at 152 lbs. in Class D ; Riley Kopf of Lexington at 170 lbs. in Class B ; Ryan Dawe of Burwell at 182 lbs. in Class D ; and Jakob Jerabek of Arcadia/Loup City at 285 lbs. in Class C.
