Broken Bow will host the Class B Area 6 American Legion Juniors baseball tournament beginning Friday, July 12 at Paul Brown Field. The tournament will consist of 7 teams this year. McCook is the top seed and will receive a bye in the opening round. The Bow Juniors team drew the #3 seed and will face Gothenburg in the opening round at 4:30. Other opening round games include : Minden (#5) vs O’Neill (#4) at 2pm and Cozad (#7) vs Holdrege (#2) at 7pm.
The area tournament champion will automatically qualify for the state tournament later in the month but an interesting dynamic could come in to play at this year’s area tournament. McCook will host this year’s state Juniors tournament and as the host team will receive an automatic bid. Therefore, should McCook win the area tournament, the second place team would also qualify for the state tournament.
