Scotus Grabs First Win with Victory over GICC

COLUMBUS – Columbus Scotus got in the win column with a dominant performance on Thursday night.

The Shamrocks hosted Grand Island Central Catholic and downed the Crusaders 52-7.

Scotus sophomore Tyler Palmer opened up the scoring with a pick-six with just over two minutes remaining the first quarter. Next, Zach Beiermann punched in a three-yard score to put Scotus up 14-0 early in the second before he kicked a 43-yard field goal to make it 17-0. Sophomore Eric Mustard made it 24-0 after a 20-yard dash before the halftime break.

Jonah Bales put GICC on the board after halftime with a 13-yard score on the opening drive of the third quarter, but Logan Meuller capped off the ensuing Scotus drive with a seven-yard run. On GICC’s next possession Colton Kosch picked off a Crusaders pass and took it for a score to make it 38-7. Tyler Palmer scored the Shamrock’s final two scores with runs from 45 yards and nine yards to make it 52-7.

Scotus next prepares for a clash with Columbus Lakeview while GICC hosts Adams Central.
