MNAC and SWC Basketball Tournaments Tip Off Today – Coverage on Central Nebraska’s Sports Source

After Mother Nature delayed the start of the MNAC and SWC basketball tournaments, both conferences will tip off tournament action today.

The Mid Nebraska Activities Conference will play all girls and boys quarterfinal games today at various sites.  Girls quarterfinal games will be played at Mullen and Merna this evening.   In Mullen, top seed Mullen will play Sandhills Valley at 5:30 (central) at the Hilltop gym while Sandhills/Thedford will play Arthur County at the Lariat in Mullen at 5:30 (central). In Merna, South Loup will play Cody-Kilgore at 5:30 (central) followed by Anselmo-Merna vs Twin Loup.  Games in Merna will be broadcast live on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com

Quarterfinal games in the boys MNAC tournament will be played in Mullen and Stapleton. In Mullen, top seed Mullen will play Brady at 7 (central) at the Hilltop gym while Sandhills/Thedford will play Hyannis at the Lariat in Mullen at 7 (central). In Stapleton, South Loup will play Anselmo-Merna at 5:30 (central) followed by Sandhills Valley vs Arthur County at 7.  A live video stream of boys quarterfinal games (with play by play) from Stapleton will be available on the KCNI/KBBN You Tube page, Sandhills Expresss Facebook page, and on Twitter @KBBNsports.

Opening round games of the Southwest Conference basketball tournament will be played today.  Broken Bow is the top seed in the girls tournament and will host Cozad tonight at the Indian gym with tip off set for 6 p.m. Broken Bow is the #2 seed in the boys tournament and will host Gothenburg at the Indian gym tonight at 7:30 p.m. Broken Bow’s opening round games will be broadcast on KCNI 96.3 FM and kcni1280.com.   Other opening round SWC games include : Girls – Gothenburg vs Minden, Ogallala vs McCook and Ainsworth vs Valentine. Boys – Ogallala vs Valentine, Ainsworth vs Cozad, and McCook vs Minden. Winners will advance to the semifinals scheduled to be played at Kearney High School on Friday.
