MNAC 2nd Round – Results

The second round of the MNAC girls and boys basketball tournament took place Tuesday with winners advancing to Thursday’s semifinal round. Loup Valley Division games were played at Anselmo-Merna high school.

Game 1 featured South Loup against Ansley/Litchfield in boys action. The two teams had just 3 losses on the season between them and they battled each other to the end. South Loup would overcome a 13 point first half deficit and come back to win 58-52. The Bobcats were led by Kalen Dockweiler who finished with a game high 34 points. The Spartans were led by Ethan Samuelson who finished with 12 points and Chris Paitz had 11.

In game 2, the Anselmo-Merna girls met the Ansley/Litchfield Lady Spartans. AM knocked down 10 3’s in the game to account for 30 of their 37 points as they outscored Ansley/Litchfield 22-6 in the second half to pull away for a 37-24 victory.

Game 3 featured the top seed in the Loup Valley Girls division South Loup taking on Brady. The Lady Bobcats held Brady scoreless in the first half and went on to win by a final of 53-17. South Loup was led by Kalie Glendy who had a game high 14 and Landyn Cole also finished in double figures with 11.

In the final game of the night, the Anselmo-Merna boys outscored Brady 20-1 in the second quarter to pull away for 63-34 victory. Seth Miller had a game high 23 points and Jace Leibhart scored 20 to lead the Coyotes. The win also marked the 100th career victory for AM head coach Brent Myers during his time with Coyotes.
