McCook and Cozad Meet for B6 Senior Legion Title / Class B and C Junior State Tournaments Continue

The Cozad Reds will play McCook today (7/23) for the Class B6 American Legion Seniors baseball tournament championship.  McCook has yet to lose in the tournament with wins over Holdrege, Gothenburg, and Minden.  Cozad lost their first game of the tournament to Doniphan-Trumbull but have battled back through the elimination bracket.  Cozad’s Spencer Pleshcourt pitched a 4 hit shutout yesterday in an 8-0 win over Minden to send Cozad into the championship final.  Cozad will play McCook at 5pm today in Cozad.  If McCook wins, they will be tournament champions and qualify for state.  If Cozad wins, the two will turn around and play a winner take all game for the title.

The Class B Junior State Legion Tournament continued in McCook Monday. Beatrice eliminated McCook from the tournament with a 5-2 win. Waverly stayed alive by defeating and eliminating Roncalli 7-6. In the winner’s bracket final Hickman shutout Central City 15-0. Hickman has now guaranteed themselves a spot in the championship and will play Waverly today. Waverly must win today to stay alive in the tournament. Also today, Central City will play Beatrice in an elimination game.

The Class C Junior State Legion Tournament continues in Plymouth, NE. On Monday, Syracuse defeated Louisville-Weeping Water 3-2 and Palmer Wolbach Greeley defeated Tekamah-Herman 11-1. PWG will play Syracuse in the winner’s bracket final today (7/23) at 8pm. In other action Monday, Pierce eliminated Imperial 4-1 and Shelton-Gibbon eliminated the host team Tri County 8-7. Today, Tekamah-Herman will play Pierce and Louisville-Weeping Water will play Shelton-Gibbon in elimination games.
