Girls hoops sub-districts: Class D2 defending champs open sub-district play as top-seed

LINCOLN – Auburn, Johnson-Brock, Weeping Water and Falls City Sacred Heart all earned top-seeds in their respective sub-district girls basketball tournaments next week.

The Bulldogs (17-4) will play the winner of #4 Johnson County Central (3-17) and #5 Wilber-Clatonia (2-18) at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Norris Middle School in the Class C1-1 tournament. The Thunderbirds and Wolverines play Monday at 7 p.m.

The #1 seed in the Class D1-1 sub-district is the Eagles (13-8). Johnson-Brock also secures a bye and will play on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against the winner of #4 HTRS (6-14) and #5 Pawnee City (5-17). The Titans and Indians will play Monday 7 p.m. All D1-1 sub-district games will be held at Southern High School.

The Class D1-3 tournament will feature Weeping Water as the top-seed. The Indians have a record of 15-7 and face either #4 East Butler (8-12) or #5 Cedar Bluffs 38.5909 (9-13) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Raymond Central High School.

The Class D2 defending champions Falls City Sacred Heart begin their title defense in the D2-1 sub-district tournament on Tuesday. The Irish (20-1) square-off against #4 Cornerstone Christian (1-13) at 6 p.m. at Lourdes Central Catholic High School in Nebraska City.
