Mullen girls with their district trophy

The Broken Bow girls basketball team saw its season come to an end at the C1-4 district final Friday night as they fell to Adams Central 52-37. The Lady Indians struggled shooting the ball as Adams Central built a 19 point lead going to the fourth quarter. Bow would fight back to get to within seven but Adams Central was able hit free throws down the stretch and hold on for the win. Broken Bow was led by Kya Scott who had a team high 13 and sister Kailyn finished in double figures with 11. Bow concludes a great year at 23-3 overall.

South Loup fell just short of qualifying for the state tournament as they fell to BRLD (Bancroft/Rosalie/Lyons/Decatur) 43-32. The Bobcats trailed by just 2 at the half but BRLD would outscore South Loup 11-2 in the third quarter and then held on in the fourth to secure the win. Megan Donegan had 15 and Jessie Sallach had 8 for the Lady Bobcats who conclude the season at 21-3.

Anselmo-Merna came up just short at the D2-7 district final as they were edged by Sterling 39-35. A-M, looking for their first state tournament appearance since 2006, gave the #7 seed Sterling all they could handle. The Lady Coyotes led 31-25 going to the fourth quarter but were outscored 14-4 in the final 8 minutes as the Jets came back for the victory. Anselmo-Merna concludes the season at 14-9.

The Mullen Lady Broncos are headed to the state tournament. Mullen defeated Leyton 51-24 to claim the D2-3 district title and advance to the state tournament in Lincoln next week.
