Final Preparations Being Made for 2018 Cornhusker State Games

The 34th Annual Cornhusker State Games is quickly approaching. Opening ceremonies are set for July 20th at Seacrest Field in Lincoln. Officials are expecting more than 11,000 participants of all ages and abilities. Central Nebraska’s Sports Source visited with Dave Mlnarik, the Executive Director of the Nebraska Sports Council. This year’s Cornhusker State Games Torch Run is currently in progress. The run began July 1st in Hemingford and will make its way from Ogallala to North Platte on Friday as part of the Nebraskaland Days celebration. Mlnarik said that the run is patterned after the Olympic torch run. Mlnarik also reminds everyone that even though the price for registration has increased a bit registrations will still be taken up to July 6th.
