District Track in Classes B and C Scheduled for Today

Several area athletes will attempt to qualify today for the state track and field championships next week in Omaha.

Broken Bow will be among the teams competing today at the B-5 district meet in Lexington. Joining the Indians will be Adams Central, Aurora, Central City, Hastings, Holdrege, Lexington, Minden, Northwest, and York. Gothenburg and Cozad will be among the teams competing at the B-6 district today in Ogallala. There are six Class B districts. The first three places in each individual running event will qualify for the state meet plus the next six fastest times of the non-qualifiers regardless of place. In the field events, the first three places will qualify plus those that reach or surpass the automatic qualifying standard set by the NSAA. The first and second place finishers in the relay events will qualify for state plus the four fastest times of the non-qualifiers regardless of place.

Class C district meets are also scheduled to take place today. Arcadia/Loup City and Burwell will compete at the C-6 district in Ord while South Loup will be among the teams competing at the C-8 district at Southern Valley.

Class C is divided into 9 districts. The winners of the first two places and the next six fastest times regardless of place in each individual running event will qualify for the state meet. In the field events, the first two places will qualify for the state meet as well as though who reach or clear the automatic qualifying standard set by the NSAA. The winners of the relay events will automatically qualify plus the seven fastest times of the non-qualifiers regardless of place.
