Burwell Wins Girls Team Title and South Loup Takes Boys Crown at Burwell Track Invite

Burwell hosted its annual track and field invitational Thursday. Burwell won the girls team championship with 112.5 points. South Loup was second with 98 points, Arcadia-Loup City was third with 92 points and Ansley-Litchfield placed fourth with 73. The Lady Longhorns had two athletes set new meet records. Hallee Mann won the girls pole vault by clearing 11′ and Michaela Kelly set a new meet record in the girls 1600 meter run with a time of 5:43.2. The boys team title went to South Loup. The Bobcats scored an impressive 174 points for the win. Ansley-Litchfield was second with 89 points followed by West Holt in third. Arcadia-Loup City was fourth with 75 points and Sandhills/Thedford placed fifth with 73. The Bobcats were led in part by Cooper Taylor who took double gold by winning the 1600 and 3200 meter run.

Two area athletes achieved gold in 3 individual events. Sarah Lewis of Ansley-Litchfield took triple gold by winning the girls 100 meter hurdles (16.7), the girls 300 meter hurdles (48.6), and the 400 meter dash (61.6). On the boys side, Nolan Marten of Sandhills/Thedford took triple gold by winning the boys 100 meter dash (11.6), the boys 200 meter dash (23.4) and the 400 meter dash (52.9).
