Broken Bow Spirit Sunday Recap

The Broken Bow Spirit Blue and White 18 & under girls softball teams had a busy Sunday playing three games each.

The Spirit Blue collected its first win of the season edging St. Paul 3-1.  Karina Kitt delivered a great pitching performance scattering 7 hits and giving up just one run in 6 innings of work to pick up the win.  Taylor Feddersen, Venessa Coleman, and Nikki Peters all went 2 for 3 in the game to lead the offensive attack.  The Spirit Blue dropped their other two contests on the day.  The Blue fell to Gresham 11-0 as Gresham used a big 9 run third inning to pull away.  The Spirit Blue also fell to Lawrence 8-1.  Bow grabbed an early 1-0 lead but then saw Lawrence score 2 in the fourth then 3 in the sixth and 3 more in the seventh to seal the win.  Nikki Peters drove in Bow’s lone run of the game which came in the first inning.

The Spirit White team suffered three tough losses.  The Spirit White fell to St. Paul 4-2.  The Spirit led 2-1 going into the fifth but St. Paul scored 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth to collect the win.  Mya Weverka and Joscelyn Coleman were each 2 for 3 at the plate while Kate Holcomb was 2 for 2 to help lead the offense.  The White also dropped a heartbreaker to Lawrence 7-6.  The teams went back and forth as the game was tied 6-6 after five innings but Lawrence was able to push across the winning run in the 6th.  Kylee Petersen was 1 for 3 in the game with a run scored and 2 RBI.  The White also fell to Seward 9-3.  Seward scored 7 runs in the first two innings which was too much for the White to make up.  The Spirit White are now 7-11 on the season.
