The Broken Bow Spirit 18U girls softball team dropped another heartbreaker to Gothenburg on Wednesday night. The game went 4 innings with the Spirit jumping out early scoring 3 runs in the top of the first. Gothenburg would score one run in the bottom of the first then score 3 in the third to lead by 1 going to the final inning. In the top of the 4th, the Spirit fought back with 4 runs to reclaim the lead. However, Gothenburg would overcome that deficit in their final at bat to tie the game and then win it with a walk off 2 run homer. The Spirit outhit Gothenburg for the game 13-8. The Bow Spirit now sit at 2-7 for the season.
The Spirit also finished off their game with the McCook Rebels Gray 16U team after it was suspended Tuesday because of weather. After falling behind 4-1, the Spirit got to within 4-3 but could not complete the victory as McCook held on for a 5-3 victory.
