Broken Bow Juniors and Seniors Fall to Gothenburg

The Broken Bow American Legion Juniors and Seniors baseball teams traveled to Gothenburg Friday for a doubleheader.

The Bow seniors dropped a tight one run affair.  The two teams went back and forth exchanging runs in the first three innings as the game was tied at 7-7 going into the fourth.  Gothenburg would score a run in the bottom of the fifth and made it hold up as they collected the 8-7 victory.  Bow had 8 hits in the game led by Max Denson who finished 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.  The Bow seniors fall to 7-7 overall this season.

The juniors game was also a tight one with Gothenburg winning 6-5.  Broken Bow jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings but then saw Gothenburg score 5 runs in the third to take the lead.  Bow would then score 2 runs in the 4th to tie the game but Gothenburg answered with a run in the 5th and held on for the win.  Bow had just 5 hits in the game as Carter Johnson drove in two of Bow’s five runs.  The Bow juniors are now 8-4 this season.

A reminder that Central Nebraska’s Sports Source will present live coverage of American Legion baseball on Sunday when Broken Bow hosts Sutton at Paul Brown Field.  It was originally scheduled to be a juniors and seniors doubleheader but has now been changed to a juniors only doubleheader with game one scheduled for noon.  Game one of the doubleheader will be broadcast live on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com
