The Broken Bow girls basketball team advanced to the championship game of the Southwest Conference basketball tournament Friday night by holding off Ainsworth in the semifinals 53-43. Broken Bow jumped out to a quick 12-2 lead but Ainsworth fought back to tie the game at 22 and kept it close throughout. Bow was always able to answer when the Lady Bulldogs made a run and made the plays needed down the stretch to advance to their 3rd straight SWC championship game. Kya Scott led the way for the Lady Indians with a game high 13 points. Broken Bow will face Ogallala for the title Saturday. Ogallala ran past Gothenburg in the semifinals 51-29. It will be a rematch of last year’s championship game won by Broken Bow. It will also be a top five showdown as Ogallala is currently ranked #2 in Class C1 by the Omaha World Herald and Broken Bow is currently ranked #4. The tip off for the championship game is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. as Bow will attempt to win their third tournament title in a row. Ogallala will face McCook for the SWC boys championship Saturday. Both teams were impressive in their semifinal victories. Ogallala defeated Ainsworth 80-34 and McCook defeated Minden 57-32.
