Broken Bow Girls Repeat as SWC Tournament Champs

The Broken Bow girls basketball team claimed the Southwest Conference tournament title for the 2nd straight year with a 45-42 win over top seeded Ogallala at Lexington High School on Saturday. Broken Bow led by 7 at the half but that lead was erased by Ogallala in the third as Bow was held to just 3 points in the quarter. Broken Bow responded though to start the fourth as Kya Scott and Majesta Valasek each knocked down a three to help Broken Bow regain momentum as Bow was able to hold on at the end for the 3 point victory. Kya Scott and Majesta Valasek each finished with 13 points to lead the Lady Indians in scoring. Broken Bow improves to 15-4 on the season.

Broken Bow defeated Ainsworth in the SWC boys consolation game Saturday. Bow pulled away in the 4th quarter for a 59-43 victory. Bow had three players finish in double figures led by Cade Chapin with 20 points, Josh Harvey scored 18 and Griffin Wright had 13. The Indians are now 13-5 on the season.

In other Southwest Conference Tournament action, McCook defeated Minden 47-40 in the girls consolation game and Ogallala won the boys championship by defeating Cozad in the title game 57-48.
