Broken Bow Girls Ready for SWC Semifinals – Bow Boys Fall in Overtime in Consolation Bracket

For the second night in a row, the Broken Bow boys basketball team fell in overtime at the Southwest Conference basketball tournament. After falling to Gothenburg Wednesday night in the opening round, Bow fell to Ainsworth in overtime Thursday night in the 5th place consolation game 69-65. It was a back and forth entertaining game that had to go into extra time. Broken Bow had 8 players who scored and three who finished in double figures led by Dylan Baum with 14, Austin Harvey had 12, and Blake Denson finished with 11. Ainsworth had only three players score total. Caleb Allen scored 34 points and was the only player to score for Ainsworth in the third quarter finishing with 17 points for the quarter. Broken Bow falls to 8-8 on the season and will next play at Lexington on Tuesday Feb. 2nd.

The Broken Bow girls basketball team will continue their quest for a fourth straight SWC girls conference tournament title Friday. Broken Bow will play Gothenburg in the first of the girls semifinals which will be played at Kearney High School. The winner will advance to Saturday’s championship game where they will play the winner of Ainsworth and Ogallala. Friday’s semifinal is scheduled to tip off at 3:30 and will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com
