Boys Sub District Results 2/22

Broken Bow began play at the C1-10 boys sub district basketball tournament in St. Paul on Monday night. Broken Bow defeated Ord in a tight low scoring affair 34-32. With the game tied 30-30 with less than 2 minutes to go, Broken Bow’s Riese Kahnk drove down the lane, scored and was fouled. Kahnk would make the free throw and complete the three point play to give Broken Bow the lead as the Indians then held on to advance. Blake Denson led Broken Bow with a game high 11 points. Broken Bow advances to play top seed St. Paul on Tuesday. The game will be broadcast on KCNI 1280 AM / 96.3 FM and on kcni1280.com. Tip off is scheduled for 6 pm.

Sandhills/Thedford advanced at the D1-11 sub district tournament. Sandhills/Thedford knocked off the #4 seed Sandhills Valley 52-38. Sandhills/Thedford advances to play top seed North Platte St. Pat’s on Tuesday. The winner will advance to the sub district final on Thursday to play the winner of Maywood-Hayes Center vs. Maxwell.

Holdrege defeated Gothenburg 49-30 at C1-11 sub district tournament at Kearney Catholic on Monday. Holdrege advances to play top seed Kearney Catholic on Tuesday. The winner will advance out to play the winner of Cozad vs. Minden.

Play begins tonight at the D1-10 sub district tournament at Burwell. Game one features the top seed Burwell against the #4 seed Anselmo-Merna. Tip off is scheduled 6 pm. That game will be followed by Ansley/Litchfield, the #2 seed, against the #3 seed South Loup. Today’s winners will advance to the sub district final on Thursday. All games from the D1-10 sub district tournament will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com.

In other area sub district action tonight, Arcadia/Loup City is the #2 seed at the C2-9 sub district tournament and will play the #3 seed Twin River. Mullen is the top seed and is hosting the D2-10 sub district tournament. Mullen will open against Arthur County tonight with the winner advancing to play the winner of tonight’s game between Hyannis and Paxton. SEM is the #2 seed at the D2-8 sub district tournament. The Mustangs will open against Pleasanton tonight. Twin Loup is the #3 seed at the D2-5 sub and will play the #2 seed Spalding Academy.
