Boys State Golf – Day One Recap

The Broken Bow boys golf team sits 8th in the team standings after day one of the Class C boys golf state championship held at Kearney Country Club. Bow shot a team total 339 on day one. Elmwood Murdock has the team lead after round one as they shot an opening day 318. Hartington Cedar Catholic is one shot behind in second and GICC is 2 shots behind in third. Chase Largen of Creighton shot the low round of the day with a 1 under par 70. Eric Stevens of Bridgeport is one shot behind after shooting an even par 71. Griffin Wright led the way for Broken Bow with a team low 83 which is currently tied for 25th. Josh Harvey shot an opening round 84 followed by Spencer Gaffney with an 85, Jared Kahnk shot an 87, and Cole Ulmer carded an opening round 100. The tournament will conclude Wednesday at the Kearney Country Club. Listen for reports during the day on KBBN 95.3 FM.

In Class D, Koby Walker of Mullen is tied for 30th after an opening round 89. Jace Leibhart of Anselmo-Merna is tied for 37th after shooting a 91 on day one. Andrew Lauby of Loomis has the clubhouse lead with an opening round of 1 over par 73. The Class D tournament is being played at Lake Maloney Golf Course in North Platte.

In Class B, Dillon Geiser of Cozad is tied for 25th after an opening round 83 and teammate Adam Cole is one shot behind. Caleb Badura of Aurora has the clubhouse lead after shooting an even par 72. The Class B tournament is taking place at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus.
