Bow Spirit Blue Edges White in Walk Off Win

It came down to the last play, but Broken Bow Spirit – White was on the wrong end of an 8-7 defeat to Spirit Blue on Thursday. Spirit Blue was down 7-6 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Summer Yarrington tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Broken Bow Spirit – White fell behind by four runs in the second inning, but then tried to fight back. Broken Bow Spirit – White scored six runs in the failed comeback on a single by Myah Phillips in the third, a triple by Victoria Griffith in the fourth, a single by Victoria Coleman in the fourth, a single by Brianna Mowrey in the fourth, and a single by Karina Kitt in the fourth.
In the first inning, Spirit Blue got their offense started when Mahala Sanchez singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Ryan Nielsen led things off in the circle for Spirit Blue. She lasted three innings, allowing five hits and five runs while striking out two.

Coleman was on the rubber for Broken Bow Spirit – White. She allowed three hits and three runs over one-third of an inning. Kitt threw three and a third innings out of the bullpen.
Coleman led Broken Bow Spirit – White with two hits in two at bats. Broken Bow Spirit – White was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Griffith had the most chances in the field with seven.

Spirit Blue collected ten hits on the day. Sanchez, Mattie Bumgarner, and Nikki Peters each racked up multiple hits for Spirit Blue. Sanchez went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Spirit Blue in hits. Spirit Blue stole 12 bases during the game as four players stole more than one. Kate Holcomb led the way with four.
