Austin Harvey Pitches No-Hitter in Broken Bow Area Tournament Win ; Loup City Stays Alive in Class C Area 5 Tournament

The Broken Bow American Legion Juniors baseball team moved to 2-0 at the Class B Area 6 tournament Saturday with an 8-0 five inning win over Cozad. Broken Bow’s Austin Harvey was untouchable on the mound throwing 5 innings of no-hit baseball to pick up the win. Broken Bow led 2-0 going to the bottom of the fifth inning and then broke the game open as they sent 10 men to the plate and scored 6 runs to end the game early on the 5 inning 8 run rule. Cyrus Wells started the fifth inning with a single and came around to score and then ended the inning and the game by driving in the winning run. Broken Bow now advances in the winners’ bracket to face the top seed McCook who came back to beat O’Neill Saturday 9-5. Bow and McCook will meet at 5pm at Paul Brown Field. The game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com. Prior to that will be two elimination games. O’Neill will play Holdrege at noon followed by Cozad vs Minden at 2:30.

The Loup City Juniors stayed alive in the Class C Area 5 tournament at St. Paul on Saturday with a 10-5 win over Ord. Loup City will play another elimination game Sunday at 4pm.
