Area Teams Compete at Paxton Track and Field Invite

Paxton hosted its track and field invitational on Tuesday. Mullen claimed the girls team championship with 132 points. Anselmo-Merna finished 2nd with 70 points. Samantha Moore had a big day for the Lady Broncos with 3 golds on the day. Moore won the 100 meter hurdles (16.27), the 300 meter hurdles (49.7), and tied for first with Alexis Zimmer of Anselmo-Merna in the girls high jump (4’8″). Brooke McCulley of Mullen took first in the 1600 meter run (6:02.86) and Haley Jones of Mullen won the 400 meter dash (1:04.52). Mullen also took gold in the girls 4×400 meter relay (4:29.3) and the 4×800 meter relay (10:42.19). Victoria Griffith of Anselmo-Merna took gold in the 200 with a winning time of 28.07.

On the boys’ side, Mullen finished 2nd in the boys’ team standings. The Broncos were just 2 points behind champion Paxton who won the meet with 100 points. Lane Edis helped lead the way for the Mullen boys. Edis took first in the 100 (11.41), the long jump (21’3.75″), and the high jump clearing 6′. Tell Spies of Mullen took gold in the shot put (49’8″) and the discus (131’1″) and Luke Christen of Mullen won the 800 in a time of 2:08.42. Destry Miller of Anselmo-Merna won the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 45.05.
