Area Athletes Named to OWH All State Basketball Teams

The Omaha World Herald has released its all state basketball selections for the 2020-21 season.

Kya Scott of Broken Bow was a Class C1 2nd team girls all state selection.  Scott helped lead Broken Bow to one of its best seasons in school history.  Broken Bow won 23 games for the second straight season, won the Southwest Conference girls tournament title for the 4th consecutive year, and qualified for the girls state tournament for the first time since 2003.  Scott led the team in scoring this past season with 13.3 points per game and set the school record for most 3 point makes in a career with 158.

Samantha Moore of Mullen was a Class D2 1st team girls all state selection.  Moore helped lead the Mullen Broncos to a third place finish at the girls state basketball tournament and was selected to the Class D2 all tournament team.  Moore led the team in scoring averaging 17 points per game.  Moore has signed her letter of intent to play college basketball for the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Barak Birch of Burwell was a 2nd team Class D1 boys all state selection.  Birch helped lead Burwell to an undefeated regular season and a trip to the boys state basketball tournament where the Longhorns finished 4th.  Birch led the team in scoring this past season averaging 15.5  points per game.

Brendon Walker and Clayton Moore of Mullen were each honored by being selected to the Class D2 boys all state second team.  Walker averaged 12.1 points per game this season and Moore averaged 12.9 points per game.  The Broncos finished the season ranked #2 in the state in the final Omaha World Herald Class D2 top ten poll.
