Area Athletes Compete at GICC Track Invite

Broken Bow and Arcadia/Loup City were among the teams that competed at the GICC track and field invite on Thursday. GI Northwest was the boys team champion with 128 points. Broken Bow finished with 34 points and Arcadia/Loup City had 11. The girls’ team title also went to Grand Island Northwest with a team high 100 points. The Arcadia/Loup City girls finished third with 71 points and Broken Bow was sixth overall with 53 points. Among the individual highlights, Nadia VanSlyke of Arcadia/Loup City won the girls shot put (35′ 1″) with her teammate Taylor Ference finishing 2nd. The two flip flopped positions in the girls discus with Ference winning the event (115′ 5″) and VanSlyke placed 2nd. Broken Bow’s Kya Scott won the girls high jump clearing 4’8″ and Lindsay Schauda of Broken Bow won the girls 300 hurdles in a winning time of 49.00. Other top three finishers from the area included : Ryley Dickau (BB) 3rd in the girls pole vault, Kailyn Scott (BB) 3rd in the girls 100, Kali Staples (BB) 2nd in the girls 1600, and Alicia Rhoads (ALC) 3rd in the girls 3200 meter run.

On the boys side, Broken Bow’s Grayson Garey placed third in the 400 and Mykael Stoddard placed third in the boys pole vault.
