Ansley/Litchfield Claims Third Place Trophy at Girls State Tournament

Ansley/Litchfield defeated Pleasanton 52-48 in the Class D1 third place consolation game at the girls state basketball tournament Saturday. The Lady Spartans were led by Mariah Lane who finished with a game 19 points. Sarah Lewis added 14 and Alyssa Bailey also finished in double figures with 11 for the victorious Spartans. Ansley/Litchfield concludes the season with an overall record of 22-4.

Caitlin Orton scored 20 points to lead North Central to the Class D1 girls state championship with a 54-35 win over BDS.

Hyannis suffered another heart breaking loss Saturday at the girls state tournament. After losing by 1 in overtime to Falls City Sacred Heart in the semifinals on Friday, Hyannis suffered another 1 point loss to Exeter-Milligan in the Class D2 3rd place consolation game 46-45. Hyannis ends the season at 21-4.

Falls City Sacred Heart claimed the D2 girls state title with a 57-51 win over Humphrey St. Francis.
