Anselmo-Merna, South Loup, and Mullen Finish as District Runners-up

The South Loup Bobcats fell to Wakefield in the C2-6 boys basketball district final at West Holt High School Monday night 59-47. Wakefield outscored South Loup 25-14 in the second quarter to take a 16 point lead at the half. South Loup would fight back though in the 3rd as they outscored Wakefield 18-8 to pull to within 6 going to the 4th. In the 4th, Wakefield would hold off the Bobcats and collect their 20th win of the season and advance to the state tournament beginning March 7th in Lincoln. The Bobcats were led Kalen Dockweiler who had a game high 20 points. South Loup finishes the season at 19-5 overall.

At the D1-7 district final in Ord, Fullerton jumped out early on Anselmo-Merna and the Coyotes just couldn’t find answer as Fullerton won 76-54 to claim the district title and advance to the state tournament. AM was led by Seth Miller who had a game high 29. Anselmo-Merna finishes their season at 19-4 overall on the season.

Mullen also fell short in their bid to make the state tournament. The Broncos fell to Blue Hill in the D2-8 district final 41-28.

It was also a tough night for Cozad as they Haymakers fell to Milford 58-35 in the C1-6 district final.
